With a loose, body-skimming silhouette and a number of interchangeable features, the Kalle Shirt & Shirtdress is the ultimate in chic, easy dressing.

View A is cropped with a wide-faced hem, View B is a tunic length shirt inspired by classic men's oxfords, and View C is a stylish shirtdress with a high-low hem. All versions feature a subtly curved yoke, short dolman sleeves with arm cuffs, and a dramatically shaped hem.

Personalize your Kalle with a standard or band collar, an optional breast pocket, an inverted or box pleat, and button, popover or hidden placket.

Sizes: 0-20 (print and PDF) and 14-32 (PDF)

Recommended fabric

  • Make a fluid, drapey Kalle with soft fabrics like tencel, linen, rayon challis and silk crepe de chine. Crisper fabrics like poplin, chambray, voile, flannel and traditional shirtings will create a more structured silhouette.

    Perfect Pattern

I absolutely LOVE this dress and pattern! I am 5’2”, 27” waist, 36” hips, and 32” bust and cut the smallest size but lengthened it by several inches so the front hit just below my knee and the back hangs right around my calves. There is definitely a lot of ease in this pattern— the dress hangs like a paperbag fit, but with a belt to cinch it in at the waist it looks so cute!! I wear this dress probably the most out of all of my makes because it’s so cute and comfortable, and because I lengthened it, it makes it suitable to wear anywhere from running errands to work to church. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, as all Closet Core Patterns are I have found. Love it! Thank you!!

    Kalle Shirt dress

First I ordered the pattern , which was before the 14 range and cup size came out and I just could not make it fit. Then the curve size range appeared( and not being prepared to admit defeat) I ordered the pdf of the curve range, 14 curve and 3 Kalle’s later , one long and two regular length later and I am thrilled. I also made the long sleeve as well. I see many adaptions of this in the future.
I did make Forward Shoulder Adj, also took in side seam from below the bust down to hem on front and back by about an inch and the collar height I reduced by 1/2” all for my body type. Played with the high low hem a bit to make them both the same front and back. Easy to follow instructions and and a nice look. I am So Happy to make something that looks nice and fits. Thank you CLOSET CORE. And a special thanks to Bella Citadel for her blog on her Kalle dress, her down to earth approach and pictures encouraged me to keep persisting.
